Are you ready for that first dip in your pool after winter has left the area? Spring is almost here, along with warm days and plenty of sunshine. It’s time to get the pool in shape. Pool parties are right around the corner.
If your pool is covered, remove any water that may have collected, as well as leaves and dirt. Clean the cover and put it away until next winter.
Once the cover is off, check for dirt and algae on the sides. Get all that scrubbed off first then add water and fill it up. Check your pump and filter for any damage, prime it and start it up. Next you’ll want to clean any leaves, twigs or other debris off the bottom. This could still happen even if the pool is covered.
Once the bottom is clean, start the vacuum. If there is nothing on the bottom, hooray.
Let everything circulate for a day while you do other things, such as cleaning pool toys that you or the kids use. Don’t forget to clean the ladder if you have one and the diving board.
After all that, test your water and make sure to add the chemicals you need.
